So far, director G. Nageshwar Reddy has offered his audience slapstick content. However, that is set to change, as his upcoming film, Gully Rowdy, is a situational comedy.

The director says the film starring Sundeep Kishan and Neha Shetty has a comic quotient woven into the script, unlike his earlier movies. “That’s something different I am trying for the first time,” he explains.

Nageshwar is confident that the audience will find the plot, which is about carrying forward the legacy of rowdyism, unique and entertaining. “Although there are action elements, the film is narrated in a comical way. The protagonist is under an obligation to carry on the rowdyism legacy. But he doesn’t like it, so what he does to keep the legacy going and handle his love is hilariously presented,” he elaborates. The film is set for release on September 3.

In a career spanning over 20 years, Nageshwar has made around 17 films. “The filmmaking process has completely changed over the years. With new-age content and multiple platforms, and the audience watching world cinema, penning scripts has become more challenging,” he shares, adding that with cinema going beyond regional barriers, the markets and visibility have also grown manifold.
