Balakrishna has stayed away from producing films as his earlier attempts at doing so ended in a fiasco. He braved it this time, by producing his father's biopic but despite great reviews, collections have been very poor

People in the film industry are big believers in superstitions, sentiments and muhurats. Actor Balakrishna is no different. In the past, the actor has stated that things never worked out for him whenever he wanted to start his own production house. He got injured once and other bad incidents happened whenever he thought about it.

In fact, when the film Nartanasala was launched on March 1 in 2003, Balakrishna was all set to make his debut as director and roped in Soundarya to play Draupadi’s role while he would play the triple roles of Arjuna, Bruhannala and Keechaka. However, days after the film shooting started, it inexplicably came to a halt. Later, the lead actress Soundarya died in a helicopter crash, which forced Balakrishna to shelve his dream project. Now, years later, the actor  decided to turn producer with his father’s biopic NTR: Kathanayakudu. And although the film has got positive reviews, it has incurred huge losses in most areas. Could it be that Balakrishna turning producer under his own banner NBK Films has not augured well for the film?

With the second part of the film set to release in early February, it remains to be seen whether the actor will change his mind and put Sai Korrapati or Vishnu Induri’s names as producers in the credits and delete his name.

Ram Gopal Varma mocks the NTR biopic
After announcing that he would like to direct Balakrishna in the NTR biopic, director Ram Gopal Varma never got the opportunity to do so. Miffed, he announced another film — Lakshmi’s NTR — which will show NTR’s life him entering politics. With the biopic not doing well at the B.O., RGV tweeted, “In the process of making NTR famous, NBR seems to have become more famous... The YouTube number of views of NBR are beating ticket sales ... This just proves no one can predict neither God, nor the Public (sic).” RGV also recently released a song titled Vennupotu which describes how NTR’s son-in-law Chandrababu Naidu grabbed power from him. This irked many Nandamuri fans and members of the TDP. Kurnool MLA S.V. Mohan Reddy even filed a case. Not one to lay low, RGV tweeted, “Why is Kurnool MLA S.V. Mohan Reddy not putting a case on this man (Nadenla Bhaskar Rao) who’s saying that the honourable chief minister of Andhra Pradesh was a pickpocket... just asking (sic).”
