After making her Telugu debut with Jaguar, Deepti Sati has now found another opportunity for a Telugu web series. The actress played the role of a marital rape victim in the relationship drama, SIN, directed by Naveen Medaram.

“The web series predominantly highlights domestic violence, abuse and marital rape. I keep hearing stories of domestic violence and abuses on paper and TV, so I thought it would be challenging to take up the role,” explains Deepti.

However, the actress reveals that she was initially apprehensive to play the part. “But the director showed me the statistics of how the cases were on the rise. Then, I realised that it was a different and challenging role and I felt branching out to a different genre will be exciting,” she explains.

Despite the excitement, playing Nandita was physically and mentally draining for Deepti. “I play a middle-class girl who gets married and is later subjected to marital rape and abuse. As I play a timid girl who never retaliates, getting the expressions right wasn’t easy. I had to literally go through that emotional turmoil in my mind to get the scenes right,” she shares.

The actress then tells us that she never thinks about how playing bold roles will impact her career. “I never think of the consequences of playing any part. I only enjoy playing the character. If the story is gripping enough, I am game to play the role,” explains Deepti.

Now with the lockdown going on, some of her activities, Deepti tells us, include practicing dance, trying baking and working out.
