With a sudden surge in the requirement for hospital beds and oxygen cylinders, Prabhas-starrer Radhe Shyam filmmakers decided to donate the entire set property of 50 custom beds, stretchers, personal protective equipment, medical equipment stands and oxygen cylinders.

The makers of Prabhas-starrer Radhe Shyam have recently done their bit for people in these unprecedented times. The film’s unit, a couple of weeks back, donated the entire property of a hospital set which they had specially constructed for the period drama.

These beds have been specially made to reflect the times of the 1970s in Italy. Since Radhe Shyam is almost done with the shooting, the makers dismantled the hospital set from a private studio in the city, and safely transported the property to their warehouse on the outskirts of Hyderabad.

Now, with a sudden surge in the requirement for hospital beds and oxygen cylinders, the film makers decided to donate the entire set property (medical infrastructure) — of around 50 custom beds with cots, stretchers, personal protective equipment, medical equipment stands, saline stands, oxygen cylinders — to a private hospital in Hyderabad.

When contacted, the film’s production designer Ravinder Reddy confirmed the development. “These beds have been custom designed; they are big, strong and are patient-friendly. They have all the comforts that a bed-ridden patient can leverage,” said Ravinder.

Ravinder Reddy had gotten in touch with the CEO of a private hospital for a bed for one of his relatives. “When the CEO said that there were no beds available, and that they were having difficulty in procuring, I realised the acute shortage and the gravity of the issue. Soon, I asked my filmmakers if we could contribute our hospital set, which we built for the film, for the Covid-19 patients. They immediately agreed,”

Ravinder recalls, adding that they have transported the entire set property in nine big trucks. Ravinder says that the entire unit including Prabhas has expressed happiness over the set property equipment being used for the Covid-19 patients. “Everyone is hoping that the current crises go off and normalcy will be restored soon,” he shares.
