In what is probably a huge disappointment for the unit of Aakasavani, S.S. Karthikeya (son of ace filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli) has reportedly backed out of his debut production venture.

Last year, Karthikeya had turned producer for Aakasavani, a period drama, directed by debutant Ashwin Gangaraju (who earlier worked as a writer and assistant director for Eega and Baahubali franchise). While the film is nearing completion, we have now reliably learnt that Karthikeya has exited from the project.

It may be noted that Karthikeya is also working in a crucial capacity for his father Rajamouli’s RRR. Apparently, Karthikeya is finding it difficult to allot time to check on the progress of both Aakasavani and RRR. Hence, he has decided to step out of the former project to focus more on the latter.

“Right from the pre-production to the shooting, Karthikeya has been overseeing all the activity of Aakasavani meticulously. The shooting schedule of RRR has come to a grinding halt because of the lockdown. So, the filmmakers will have to push themselves once shooting resumes, and Karthikeya will have to allocate more time for the magnum opus. With more work on RRR on the cards, he decided to back off from the  Aakasavani project.” says a source.
