For the first time after Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena Party won only one seat in the recently concluded elections, the actor-turned-politician spoke about his defeat.

“I accepted my defeat in just 15 minutes. I understood what it meant and recovered immediately,” says the actor at the TANA conference in the US.

But the actor, who says he’s tasted defeat many times since childhood, only believes that this defeat would get him closer to victory in the future. “I’ve failed many times from my childhood and every time I learnt invaluable lessons. I can tell many reasons for my defeat, but I wasn’t involved in any scandal nor backstabbed anyone to enter politics, which is why I hadn’t feared this defeat. I joined politics to point out problems that people face, not just for my own good,” he explains.

However, Pawan believes that there is no impact of cinema in politics. “I found this especially when I participated in the 100-day function of my film, Khushi. After that film, I wasn’t keen to do films as I’ve been keen on reading more about the society,” he says, signing off.
