Noted actress Priyamani is looking forward to two B-town movies ‘Jawan’ and ‘Maidan’ since she has done key roles in these much-hyped movies. Although she wasn’t more forthcoming about her role in “Jawan’, she described her role in ‘Maidan’ as significant. She shares her thoughts in a chat with Deccan Chronicle.

Q: How was it working with SRK in ‘Jawan’ again after sharing screen space with him in ‘Chennai Express?

A: I am truly elated to work with Shah Rukh Khan in “Jawan’ after a long gap and it was a splendid experience. I can’t reveal more about the film. Honestly, when I was approached for a dance number opposite Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Chennai Express,’ I didn’t believe it initially. Only, when I got on to the sets and started rehearsing with him, I realized that it was happening. Working with SRK will always be special for me.

Q: What about your role in ‘Maidan’ opposite Ajay Devgn?

A: I play a wife to revered football coach Syed Abdul (as you know it is a biopic) and stand behind him like a rock over his trials and tribulations. I had to unlearn a few things while working with Ajay Devgn who is known for his riveting performances. It was also like a give-and-take for us.

Q: You started the trend of south divas doing Hindi web series with ‘Family Man’?

A: I don’t think I was a trailblazer but I did ‘Family Man’ as I liked the script and it worked wonders. I think even other actresses who are doing Hindi web series intend to essay roles that they haven’t done hitherto and also to reach out to audiences the world over.

Q: Have you lost out on any web series after you insisted on the ‘no kissing on screen’ clause in agreements?

A: Not much because filmmakers understood my viewpoint and are casting me in roles that are devoid of onscreen intimacy. As the script demands ‘intimacy’ which is absolutely fine as long as the people involved are comfortable doing it in digital space. However, I am clear about my choices and have no plans to tweak my clause.

Q: Your upcoming web series ‘Sarvam Shakti Mayam’ and ‘Quotation Gang’ boast of contrasting themes.

A: Both are as different as chalk and cheese. If ‘Sarvam Shakti Mayam’ is like a devotional journey as I visit various Shakti Peetams barring the ones in Sri Lanka and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. Whereas, ‘Quotation Gang’ explores the lives of gangsters. The former tapped into my spiritual side, while in the latter, I showcase dark shades.
