It is learnt that leading producer and distributor Suresh Babu has reportedly bought the theatrical rights for Rs 4 crores

Even though his latest release ‘Keeda Cola’ hasn’t set box office on fire in two Telugu states, director-turned-actor Tharun Bhascker has reportedly made profits with his dark comedy. He made the film with a shoe-string budget of Rs 6 crores since he has mostly new casting and managed to sell the film for Rs 8 crores to a digital platform to be on safer side.

“Tharun shrewdly sold the digital rights for Rs 8 crores and helped his friends recover their investments even before the release of the film,” says a source and adds, “He along with other friends pooled in money to make this laugh riot and completed the film without any wastage and it paid off,” he adds.

It is learnt that leading producer and distributor Suresh Babu has reportedly bought the theatrical rights for Rs 4 crores and released the film in a decent number of theaters while Rana’s team is promoting the film in a big way. “It made Rs 50 lakhs on day one and we have to see how it is going to draw more audiences. More than the plot, the film is banking on dark humour and ego clashes among characters and we have to wait for a few more days,” he concludes.

Actually, Tharun made some new-age entertainers like ‘Pelli Choopulu’ and ‘Ee Nagaraniki Emmaindi’ to establish himself as a talent director. Later, he was supposed to make a film with actor Venkatesh but it got delayed for two years, so he dished out a small budget film to bounce back into the reckoning.
