A Telugu anthology!

Tollywood is set to witness something unique and unseen hitherto. Four hotshot directors —Sandeep Vanga, Nandini Reddy, Sankalp Reddy and Tharun Bhascker — will direct four different episodes of a new-age anthology series.

The content of the anthology series will be something that the Telugu audience hasn’t seen so far. And as the content is democratic in nature, the filmmakers have been keen on wanting to push such ‘out of the box’ ideas. When the idea was pitched to these four talented filmmakers, they were all geared up to helm one episode each. “Even though all the four directors have their respective commitments, they were impressed with the whole concept of the anthology. One of the reasons they agreed to come on board was because it gives them an opportunity to introduce new and raw talent (cast-wise) and to explore the opportunities existing on such a platform,” a source tells us.

The project, which is currently in its scripting stage with cast and other formalities to be finalised soon, will have Bollywood filmmaker Ronnie Screwvala spearheading it for Netflix. “The filmmakers believe that Telugu audience has always appreciated content driven by human emotion and innovativeness. Also, platforms like Netflix and Web series are a great space to explore writing,” adds the source.
