S S Thaman is busting the charts

When music director S. S.  Thaman composed the number Samajavaragamana for the Allu-Arjun-starrer, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, little did he know that the song will be an instant chartbuster. The single, which was released a couple of days ago, has gone on to clock over 11 million views by now.

An overwhelmed Thaman shares, “I’m thrilled and a bit scared, all at once, to see all the love pouring in because it makes me wonder about how to move on from here and how to compose the next song. I think what worked for the song is the classical and Telugu nativity tune, coupled with beautiful lyrics by legendary Seetharama Sastry garu,” he reveals.

Thaman shares that he has composed a Telugu song with classic Carnatic feel to it after a long time. “The super success of the song is a testimony that if you compose any number within the nativity, people will also connect with it and appreciate it,” he explains.

The composer then shares how it was to compose a tune that would be picturised on someone like Allu Arjun, who rocks with his dance moves. “It is a great task to compose for such actors who groove well because we need be within the tune, understand the song situation, script, etc. And Allu Arjun is someone who never compromises on his numbers, and his energy is infectious,” he says.
