Guy Mintus Headlines Jazz Evening at NCPA
A recipient of the Leonard Bernstein Award and the Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Award, Mintus has performed at leading venues including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center and Jazz at Lincoln Center.
The National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) presents PianoForte, an evening that explores the versatility of the piano across jazz, classical, soul, funk and contemporary influences. Through improvisation, original arrangements and reinterpretations of familiar repertoire, the programme celebrates the instrument’s ability to move across musical traditions and create new possibilities.
This edition of PianoForte brings together internationally acclaimed pianist and composer Guy Mintus with young musicians Noah Cerejo and Mantra Upadhyay, creating an exchange of diverse musical perspectives and approaches. Mintus’s work draws from jazz, Western classical music and traditions from the Mediterranean and Middle East, while Cerejo brings influences from jazz, funk, soul and electronic music. Upadhyay, a student of the SOI Music Academy at the NCPA, explores the intersection of Western classical, jazz and Indian classical traditions.
