Although Dangal isn’t her first film, it is the first big banner film that the actress will be seen in—opposite Aamir Khan, nevertheless. Did she have inhibitions playing a mother of two grown-up girls onscreen? The question is amusing to Sakshi. Laughing aloud she says, “Why will I have any inhibitions playing a mother’s role? All my life I have played the roles of nanis and dadis! I only desire to be playing characters which bring satisfaction to me and a smile on the faces of my fans.”
Despite the name that she has earned on the small screen, Sakshi admits she wasn’t confident about bagging this big role. “When I was called for auditions, I kept thinking, ‘what next’? Only after I got a call saying I’d been roped in did I believe this was happening.” Interestingly, the word got out much faster than Sakshi thought. “My friends were upset with me for not telling them that I was doing a film with Aamir. I had to tell them that I got to know just two days ago!”
