Pooja Bhatt seems to be seeing tough times. The OTT release of her film Sadak 2, in which she only lent her photograph and voice, had been marred by controversy owing to the angst among Sushant Singh Rajput fans after the actor’s death. Now, her debut web series Bombay Begums in which she acts is also in an imbroglio.

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has received complaints against the web series about minor children indulging in acts of sex and drug abuse.

A character called Shai, played by Aadhya Anand, is seen in the show waiting for her menstrual cycle and consuming drugs. The series, which is directed by Alankrita Shrivastava who also directed Lipstick under My Burkha, is being accused of not only trying to create a negative impression among the youth but also for showing content that can lead to harassment of minors. The NCPCR has now served a notice to the streaming major Netflix, asking them to withdraw the content or face legal action. Priyank Kanungo, of the NCPCR, confirms the news. “We have asked Netflix to stop streaming of Bombay Begums for a wrongful depiction of children,” he comments.
