Swedish DJ Alleges Copying of ‘Naache Naache’; Thaman Was Reluctant
In a symbolic gesture of protest, the DJ shared a video showing slippers, which many interpreted as a sign of displeasure.
A controversy has erupted around the song “Naache Naache” from Prabhas’ upcoming film The Raja Saab, with a Sweden-based DJ accusing the makers of copying his work.
Swedish DJ and music producer Vidojin alleged that the tune of “Naache Naache” closely resembles his independent track “Naache Naache Beat,” which he released in 2024. Taking to social media, Vidojin claimed that his song was composed and shared publicly much before the movie version was announced, raising questions about originality.
In a symbolic gesture of protest, the DJ shared a video showing slippers, which many interpreted as a sign of displeasure. He urged music lovers to compare both tracks and judge for themselves. However, Vidojin was careful not to target actor Prabhas, clarifying that actors have no role in music-related decisions. In fact, he praised Prabhas, calling him a great performer with a massive fan following.
Earlier, during promotions of the film, the makers claimed that “Naache Naache” is not an original composition but a reworked version inspired by a popular Bollywood disco number from 1982, associated with the film Disco Dancer. Prabhas himself had earlier mentioned in a chat with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga that the iconic Bollywood track was among his favourites, with Vanga describing it as a blast from the past.
Earlier, in his media interactions, music composer S S Thaman clarified his stand on remixes. He said he generally avoids remixing old songs and initially wanted to compose a fresh, high-energy number, especially since Prabhas dances with three heroines — Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan, and Riddhi Kumar — in the sequence.
“I don’t like doing remix songs. I would have preferred a completely new, racy number like ‘Kurichi Madathapetti,” Thaman said. “But this particular song was already etched into the script. When director Maruthi and the producers felt that a retro remix suited the situation — where the hero meets three heroines at the same time — I agreed and did it without further discussion.”
As the debate continues online, the makers have not yet issued an official clarification till now.
