Shruti Haasan describes her emotional first meeting with A.R. Rahman and their evolving musical partnership, including their latest track, "It's A Break Up Da."

Shruti Haasan recently opened up about a deeply emotional moment in her musical journey — meeting legendary composer A.R. Rahman — calling it a "life-changing" experience. Speaking candidly, Shruti shared how her admiration for artists often makes her hesitant to meet them, fearing it might alter her perception.

"I met Tori Amos in London and started crying like a total fan girl," Shruti recalled. "When it came to Rahman sir, I was super worried. But he turned out to be evolved, kind, and wonderful. Meeting him only deepened my respect for his music." She added that growing up with Rahman’s music and later collaborating with him has been one of the most rewarding aspects of her career.

Shruti and Rahman’s musical collaborations have included memorable tracks like It’s A Break Up Da from Kadhalikka Neramillai, the Tamil anthem Semmozhi, and a special MTV Unplugged performance of Ranjha Ranjha.

On the film front, Shruti is gearing up for an exciting year. She will star alongside Rajinikanth and Nagarjuna in the much-anticipated action drama Coolie, and is set to make her international film debut with The Eye, scheduled for release later in 2025.
