BENGALURU: The year 1993 witnessed one of the finest heist-thrillers in the history of Kannada film industry. Though inspired by Hollywood's 'Die Hard', Sunil Kumar Desai directed 'Nishkarsha' was a class apart.

And, now the popular movie, produced by B C Patil - a police officer turned actor and filmmaker, before he plunged into active politics, is all set have a re-run on the silver screen with an all new digital makeover. It will be re-released on September 20.

Produced under his home banner Srushti Films, Patil, who was recently disqualified as MLA, reveals that his most successful movie venture ever will hit the screens once more with a better picture quality and sound.

Moreover Nishkarsha will be released in Hindi as well, he added. It will be released and distributed through the renowned filmmakers and distributors - Jayanna Films.

Shot mostly in Manipal Centre, an iconic multi storied building in Bengaluru, it had won three State film awards for the year 1993-94, including best film, best screenplay and best sound recording.

The movie, which stars legendary actor Vishnuvardhan, Anantnag, B.C. Patil, Prakash Raj, Suman Nagarkar and Ramesh Bhat in the lead roles, was a runaway hit which ran for months to packed houses. It is arguably one of the finest from the talented filmmaker Sunil Kumar Desai, who later went on to make several hit films.

Vishnuvardhan as Commando Ajay and other characters is etched to perfection, which is why it was one of the most frequently played movies on television. The actor turned politician, who also produced the movie, played the role of antagonist's role in it.

While Patil is hoping for a favourable judgement from the Supreme Court against his disqualification along with others, which will clear the hurdles for him to become a minister in the BJP government led by Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, he is equally anxious with the re-release of his most prized possession and is eagerly waiting to witness its magic after 26 long years.
