Any connection behind star heroes making strange public appearances in unusual head gears or seen with unique facial hair styles, beards or moustaches? Apparently, there is. Lately such makeovers have been a trend in the industry. They are not just sweating it out at the gym but going an extra mile to lend the characters they are portraying a realistic touch.

Kiccha Sudeep with his bold military cut won the hearts of many and even continues it with Villain along with Century Star Shivarajkumar. Whereas Rocking Star Yash showcased his extreme dedication by growing a beard for months to suit the character in KGF. Bengaluru Chronicle reports.

“It is a great sign as the leading men in the industry set examples by giving importance to every minute detail of a character they are set to portray. It shows dedication. Being star heroes, they do not hesitate to take risks. It is a bold move as they are busy shooting big budget films throughout the year. They have to maintain a particular look for a particular film. Recently, Sudeep Sir sported unique styles, and they became an instant hit not just amongst fans, and are now known as the ‘Sudeep cuts’ in saloons!” says Rakesh, a director.

Not just star heroes, but newcomers too are doing their best. The lead man from Rama Rama Re is one of the finest examples in recent times. Nataraj who portrayed the lead character of an inmate who escapes from jail, lost 25 kg to fit into his role. Though the lead character was undecided on who will play it, Nataraj started preparing for it months before. “I started preparing for the role by reducing. I would wake up at 5 am, run at least five kilometers, and eat less, a strict no salt, spice or sweet diet. Apart from vegetables, I ate a few chapatis for more than six months, and finally reduced from 76 kilos to 52 kilos,” Nataraj shares.

National award-winning actor Sanchari Vijay, effortlessly transformed himself playing the transgender woman, for which he won the coveted award. Shivanna, on the other hand, has always set a benchmark — working on his famed six pack, to playing all sorts of challenging roles including historical ones.

With many period films in recent times, Sandalwood has been on an experimental spree in changing the looks of the lead characters. The latest talk of the town is that of Yash and his long beard for KGF. The actor had left it as a surprise for his fans until it was finally revealed. Even Ganesh, Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar, Real Star Upendra and Dhananjay have constantly been part of this makeover trend.
