Lull in ooru’s movie screens

Many high-profile stars will only release their films post the IPL season.

With the ongoing season of Indian Premier League and general elections for the 17th Lok Sabha which will conclude on May 23, the film industry which once used to buzz with big back-to-back releases during summer vacations has remained silent. While the star actors are also busy on the small screen anchoring reality shows, the most expected releases are all lined up in the coming months. However films like Padmini Premier starring Navarasa Nayaka in the lead along with Madhoo of Roja fame and Sudharani are expected to hit the screens soon whereas Kichcha Sudeepa’s Pailwaan, Rakshit Shetty’s Avane Sriman Narayana, Shivarajakumar’s Anand, Sriimurali Bharaate, Rustum, 99 starring Ganesh along with two of his other films including Geetha are all eyeing for release dates. Bengaluru Chronicle reports.

Of the most expected movie of the year, Kichcha Sudeepa’s Pailwaan which will release in multiple languages is set for an August 8 release on the occasion of Varamahalakshmi festival while Rakshit Shetty, who is back in action  after a while, is gearing for an August release of his film Avane Sriman Narayana too. Even Avane which is produced by Pushkar Mallikarjunaiah is releasing in five different language.

“We have shot the movie for over 200 days with multiple location and special sets being erected for period thriller drama set in the 80s featuring Rakshit Shetty in a police avatar and Shanvi Srivastava as a journalist. We have a few sequences and a promotional song left for the shoot which will be followed by post production process. We have planned for an August release,” says director Sachin.

In the meanwhile, Navarasa Nayaka Jaggesh who returns with Padmini Premier along with Madhoo, Sudharani and others is slated for release in the last week of this month.

Popular small screen producer Sruthi Naidu who makes silver screen debut as a producer with Padmini Premier reveals that the tale revolves around a passenger and a car driver. “The trailer has received a lot of appreciation across filmmakers and audience. There are no villains in the movie and they could be felt only through situational circumstances. We are planning to release it on April 26,” she adds.

Also, the film 99m starring Golden star Ganesh, Bhavana directed by Preetham Gubbi is slated for release on April 26. It marks the 100th film for Arjun Janya as composer.

Whereas Shivarajkumar who has collaborated with Dwarakish Chitra for the first time for Anand is also scheduled for release in August. The Bharaate team reveals that they are working hard for an early which marks Sriimurali’s return after Rathavara.
