IFFI: Tamil Iru Kodugal to be screened under Golden Lining Indian Films section

Iru Kodugal won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil, the first film by Balachander to win the award.

Tamil film Iru Kodugal helmed by K. Balachander that released in 1969 and stars Gemini Ganesan, Sowcar Janaki, Jayanthi, Nagesh, V. S. Raghavan, S. N. Lakshmi and others will be screened at the 50th edition of IFFI under the Golden Lining Indian  Films section.

The story revolves around one man, who was married to two women. Iru Kodugal won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil, the first film by Balachander to win the award. The film which was based on a stage play of same name became a superhit. It was remade in Kannada as Eradu Rekhegalu, in Telugu as Collector Janaki and in Hindi as Sanjog.

The 50th International Film Festival of India, 2019 will witness over 200 films from 76 countries. With the screening of 26 feature films and 15 non feature films in Indian panorama section, around 10,000 people and film lovers are expected to attend and participate in the golden jubilee edition.The 2019 Golden Jubilee edition of the International Film Festival of India will take place from the 20th to the 28th of November at Panjim, Goa.

Interestingly IFFI, in its 50th year dedicates a section for Films, released in 1969, who turn 50 this year. These include National Award winning Films from all parts of India and bring in its fold, all the Indian Film Industry. The package includes Films in Odiya, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Assamese and Malayalam.
