Samantha All Set To Showcase Her Marketing Skills
The film features a fresh cast, including Harshith Reddy, Gavireddy Srinivas, Charan Peri, Shriya Kontham and Shravani Lakshmi.
Acclaimed actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu has taken a bold step into film production and is all set to release her maiden venture Subham on May 9. The film features a fresh cast, including Harshith Reddy, Gavireddy Srinivas, Charan Peri, Shriya Kontham and Shravani Lakshmi.
“She has completed one task — production — and now, she has to showcase her marketing skills, sell the film at a good price, and draw audiences to theatres,” says veteran producer Lagadapati Sridhar.
He observes that the current scenario is challenging for horror comedies which had a handful hits, while IPL matches impact evening and night-time collections in theatres in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Made on a moderate budget of ₹4 crores plus, Subham is expected to require an additional ₹2 crores for promotions to generate buzz among audiences and distributors. “Her brand value will certainly help, along with her special appearance in the film,” Sridhar adds. “However, distributors will ultimately assess the strength of the story and casting before investing.”
While Samantha’s name will likely ensure the film gets a decent theatrical rollout, Sridhar notes that the film would have a commission-based release or whether she chooses to sell it outright remains to be seen.
Nonetheless, Samantha’s entry into production signals a significant evolution in her career. “She has built a distinct identity in both Tollywood and Bollywood. After delivering strong performances in Oh! Baby and Yashoda, she’s now aiming to prove her instincts in script selection, execution, and creative marketing. If successful, her name as a producer could become as influential as her name as an actress,” Sridhar concludes.
