Ranbir Kapoor Chose Ramayana Over Singer's Biopic

Recently, filmmaker Anurag Basu revealed that Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor chose to star in Nitesh Tiwari’s epic film Ramayana over a planned biopic on legendary singer Kishore Kumar.

Basu, who had been working on the Kishore Kumar biopic for years with Ranbir initially attached to play the lead role, shared in an interview with BBC News that Ranbir faced a tough decision between the two projects.

Ranbir opted for Ramayana, where he will portray Lord Ram, with the film set to release in two parts in Diwali 2026 and 2027. The duology is being made on a budget of Rs 4,000 crores.

The Kishore Kumar biopic role was later offered to Aamir Khan.
