Ramayana is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious projects in Indian cinema. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead, the magnum opus is being produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios with a staggering budget of ₹4,000 crore for two parts.

Speaking about the film’s scale and vision, producer Namit Malhotra stressed that Ramayana is not just for Indian audiences but is designed as a global cinematic experience. “This is a movie that should speak to you like any other film, irrespective of where you come from,” he said, underlining that the story is universal enough to engage both believers and non-believers.

Malhotra drew bold parallels between Ramayana and iconic Hollywood blockbusters such as Avatar, Gladiator, and the works of Christopher Nolan. He added that the true test of success lies in its global reception: “If people in the West don’t like it, I consider that a failure. It is meant for the world. If you don’t like it, shame on me; we should have done a better job.”

With this vision, Ramayana aims not only to be a cultural milestone in Indian cinema but also a cinematic spectacle that resonates with audiences worldwide.
