Producer Swapna Dutt Describes Her Bond With Dulquer Salmaan as ‘Like a Brother’

Malayalam star Dulquer Salmaan is known to be extremely selective about his work, but producer Swapna Dutt is one exception he readily makes. After appearing in a cameo in Kalki 2898 AD, Dulquer once again featured in a guest role in their latest release, Champion.

Speaking about their bond, Swapna Dutt says, “Whenever I call him about a role, he will just say yes and doesn’t even want to listen to the story. He tells me that since I liked the story and making it, he will do whatever is needed.” She adds emotionally, “Dulquer is like a brother to me from a different mother. Thank you, Dulquer, for all that you have done for us.”

Swapna Dutt and Dulquer Salmaan first collaborated on Mahanati, which went on to become a blockbuster, and followed it up with another massive hit, Sita Ramam. Their successful association has built a strong level of trust between them.

According to a source, Dulquer often seeks the advice of Swapna Dutt and Priyanka Dutt before signing a Telugu film. “He trusts them because they understand the pulse of the Telugu audience. Dulquer is very selective, even with Telugu projects,” the source says. “Despite receiving several offers, he chose films like Lucky Bhaskar and Kaantha, and he takes his own time to finalise a script.”

Notably, Dulquer Salmaan remains the only Malayalam star to have built a strong market in Telugu cinema. Even his production house tasted success in the Telugu states with Lokah. “Dulquer Salmaan has earned the love and admiration of the Telugu audience for his good looks and subtle performances, and he continues to make waves in the Telugu states,” the source concludes.
