Prabhas–Maruthi Film for Hombale Termed ‘Baseless Rumour’

Rumours doing the rounds suggested that Prabhas would once again team up with director Maruthi for a new project to be produced by Hombale Films. However, Prabhas’ PR team has firmly denied these claims, calling them completely baseless. According to them, the speculation surfaced out of thin air and was intended to create unnecessary negativity around the actor.

At present, Prabhas is fully occupied with the shooting of Fauji and Spirit, both of which are expected to hit the big screens within the next 14 months. Expectations are high for these projects, and fans are hopeful that the actor will make a strong comeback with these films.

Prabhas’ recent release, The Raja Saab, directed by Maruthi, turned out to be a major disappointment at the box office. The horror-fantasy entertainer failed to meet expectations, leaving fans unhappy with the final outcome. In this backdrop, the latest rumour about another collaboration went viral on social media, causing unease among fans.

Prabhas had placed his trust in Maruthi, who earlier delivered successful films like Bhale Bhale Magadivoy, with the intention of making a fun-centric entertainer amid his action-heavy lineup. The Raja Saab featured elements such as horror comedy, three heroines, multiple songs, and a storyline involving a grandmother’s search for her husband, eventually leading to Prabhas’ character battling terrifying ghosts, including one played by Sanjay Dutt. However, the amateurish execution, weak VFX work, and heavily criticised face-swapping technique drew severe trolling, ultimately resulting in the film being labelled a disaster.
