Nollywood drama awaits you this week on OTT platform

Naga Chaitanya and Kriti Sanon's seven-year-old movie, Dohchay', will start streaming on Netflix this Friday.

James Cameron’s magnum opus ‘Avtaar 2’ is scheduled to hit the big screens this week. However, the OTT subscribers need not feel left out as a lot of content is ready to be streamed across platforms. Right from Nollywood to Turkish rom-com, streamers are ready with a slew of interesting offerings. Besides, quite a few old movies which are liked a lot by the audiences too will make it to the platforms.

It’s almost Christmas time but it’s time for one of the darkest shows to be released as well. ‘Beast of Bangalore: Indian Predator’ will stream from December 16. It’s a tale of a vicious predator’s brutal and murderous pursuit of women.

Another thriller by Alexi Hawley is ‘The Recruit’ featuring Noah Cenineo and Laura Haddock. According to Netflix’s description, it is the story of a rookie lawyer at the CIA who stumbles into the dangerous world of international espionage.

Besides, we will have a Polish drama that has been described as steamy and intimate on the streaming platform. ‘Glitter’ is about three women’s journey to find independence, financial freedom, and love. The show starts on December 14. On the same day, Wednesday, a docuseries ‘Don’t Pick Up The Phone,’ about the strip search phone scam calls that happened across the US in the early 2000s will also drop in.

A special holiday-themed episode of Murderville is also releasing. On December 15, holiday-themed ‘Who Killed Santa?’ will start streaming. Similarly, ‘A Storm For Christmas’ telling us a story of a bunch of people stuck at an airport on festival eve comes this Friday. It’s a limited series.

Malayalam movie ‘Ariyippu’, which was a part of the 75th Locarno Film Festival will also be released this Friday. The critically acclaimed movie has been written and directed by Mahesh Narayanan. It has Kunchacko Boban and Divya Prabha in the lead.  

On choc-a-bloc Friday, we will have Netflix’s first Nigerian young adult TV series, ‘Far From Home’. It has been created by Chinaza Onuzo and Dami Elebe. The series is very loosely inspired by Chinaza’s time in boarding school.

Telugu movie ‘O Pitta Katha’ which was initially released two years ago will also start streaming on December 16.

A Turkish rom-com ‘Private Lesson’ is the streamer’s next offering. It has been directed by Kivanc Baruonu and features Bensu Soral and Halit Ozgur San.

Critically acclaimed Mexican filmmaker Alejandro Iñárritu’s recently released ‘Bardo’ makes its way to the platform. Alejandro is a four-time Academy winner. ‘Bardo: False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths’ is the story of a Mexican journalist living in America who is forced to go back to Mexico.

Disney+ Hotstar

Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, and Kiara Advani’s ‘Govinda Naam Mera’ promises to be a laugh riot with a murder thrown in for some mystery. Written and directed by Shashank Khaitan, ‘Govinda’… is one of the eagerly awaited releases this Friday.

Also, starting Monday, four new episodes of the reality show ‘Moving in with Malaika’ will drop. One of the episodes this week features Karan Johar.

Bengali movie, ‘Ananta’ will start streaming on Zee5 this week. The movie has been directed by Ritwik Chakraborty. It’s the story of one Suvo who finds solace in his daily meetings with Mistu, a school teacher. But one day, Mistu suddenly disappears.

SonyLiv

‘Dil Diyan Gallan’, a family drama about broken ties and a bid to med them will air on December 12. It stars Kaveri Priyam and Paras Arora.

Aha

Two episodes of ‘Comedy Stock Exchange’ are already out and third, is awaited that will be released this week. The show is about six comedians taking on each other in a competitive series across 10 episodes.
