Hyderabad: The third evening of the seven-day ‘Jai Ho Pandit Jasraj 50th Pt. Motiram Pt. Maniram Sangeet Samaroh’ provided a wonderful amalgamation of Hindustani classical to semi-classical renditions by artists of different genres on Saturday, which transported the audience to a soulful world amid mellifluous musical notes and rhythmic beats.
The music festival is co-organised by HMDA and NMDC at Hitec city and hosted by Durga Jasraj, daughter of Pt Jasraj.
The evening witnessed performances by three classical artistes — Anwesha Das, Pt Rattan Mohan Sharma and Pratibha Singh Baghel.
It commenced with an enthralling Bharatanatyam performance by Anwesha Das, whose ‘Narasimha Roopa’ dance, choreographed especially for the event, was dedicated to the Lord at the Yadadri temple. Her expressions and rhythmic movements were a treat. The lighting effects in sync with the music created a stand-out experience.
It was followed by a Hindustani classical vocal performance by Pt Rattan Mohan Sharma, who presented raag Gorakh Kalyan with two compositions, a bada khayal, ‘Preet mori lagi,’ and a chhota khayal, ‘Nek kripa kar aayi.’
The mood transitioned with a touching performance by Pratibha Singh Baghel, who closed the evening with her soulful ghazals.
Pratibha sang a ghazal by Sudarshan Fakir, ‘Ishq me ghairat-e-jazbaat ne rone na diya’, which won over the hearts of the audience. She followed it up with ‘Faasle ais bhi honge’, originally sung by the legendary Ghulam Ali and penned by Adim Hashmi and ‘Dard badhkar fugan na ho jaaye’
Other eminent co- artistes were Sridhar Parthasathy on the mridangam, the flautist Ninad Mualokar, tabla players Ramakrishna Karambelkar and Ashish Ragwani with Akhlak Hussain Varsi on the harmonium.
