City singer croons to glory with Frozen 2

Nakul Abhyankar, Chennai playback singer and music composer, talks to DC about his music journey.

Chennai playback singer and music composer Nakul Abhyankar has crooned for Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions of the recently released Disney’s Frozen 2.

While he has sung in Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, and Tulu, his songs Neeli Kanumallo, a solo from the Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, CEO in the House from Sarkar were a hit.

Talking to DC, he said, “Music according to me is a tool which helps to relax and it’s definitely a gift from nature to us. Besides, it is a source of entertainment and it keeps me very energetic and lively.”

He explains, “I had always felt music in me and at some point of time it helped me to identify myself as composer or a singer.”

Sharing his experience of working for Frozen 2, Nakul says he really didn’t expect that he will get selected to sing for the film and according to him being a part of Disney. was more than a dream come true. He has sung 10 songs for Frozen 2 in  Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu versions.

“One day I got a call from Gautham Menon asking me if I would to like to sing a song for ENPT and it was an amazing moment,” he adds.  

Sharing details about the his future projects, he says, “I’m working as a music director in College Kumara and for two movies in Kannada.  I have sung  a song Beemapalli with singer Haricharan in Malayalam movie Pathinettam Padi. I have sung the same song in Telugu version of the movie.”  

 His recent Tamil songs include Azhage in Action and Adadaa Naana in Enai Noki Paayum Thota. He has also won SIIMA awards as ‘Best Music Director’ for the movie Rishabhpriya and  Red FM Tulu Film Awards 2019 as ‘Best Playback Singer’ for the song Manase Manase  in Are Marler.
