Pop singer Neha Bhasin started her music career in 2002 with the successful Indian pop group VIVA with other A-stars like Anushka Manchanda, Pratichee Mohapatra, Mahua Kamat and Seema Ramchandani. She recently released her single, Laung Gawacha. “Laung Gawacha is people’s beloved folk song. My fans requested me to do a full version after I did a 30-seconder for an ad. We wanted to make it more like a lounge mix. My vocals are bold, yet feminine,” she says about the song. A chat about Neha’s musical favourites:

One song that you listen to on repeat mode on your iPod these days:

Yesterday, I abused the repeat button on Charlie Puth’s We Don’t Talk Anymore.

Five songs in the soundtrack of your life:

Born to be Wild by Steppenwolf, Man in the Mirror by Michael Jackson,
We are the Champions by Queen, Hero by Mariah Carey, Free Fallin’ by Tom Petty.

A song that you love to listen to when:

You’re happy and upbeat: When Doves Cry by Prince. You’re really low: Man in the Mirror by MJ. You’re working out: Free Fallin’.

Music that you used to love as a kid or a teenager that you’re now embarrassed by:

I liked Boyzone, but I’m not embarrassed; I always had good taste.

You would describe your taste in music as: Ever evolving.

What’s your favourite time/way to listen to music during the day?

While bathing and getting ready, something that hasn’t changed since I was a kid.

One band/musician you’d want a private concert from:  Celiene Dion and Mariah Carey of the ’90s
