It is not possible to describe Nellooli P Rajashekaran in a word. He is a CEO, author as well as a composer. His new album Love Always shows us the various phases of love that we have often seen in day to day life. In a candid chat, he gives us insights into his album and his musical journey so far. Originally from Kerala, Nellooli now is a proud Bengalurean. Apart from managing his own firm in the city, he is also an author and music composer. Talking about his first tryst with music he says, “As a kid, I loved writing songs and coming up with tunes for the lyrics, but it was only at 16 that I wrote my first full-fledged song. I was also part of a band in college." Music for Nellooli is a passion and nothing beats the excitement of creation. He adds, “I prefer writing down the lyrics and creating a musical form appropriate to its meaning and mood.”
His wife Chandrika is a poet and lyricist whose songs have be published over the years. He adds, “When I was looking to bring out an album of my, among the unpublished works, I found a set of songs that deal with various stages and moods of love.” Nellooli created this album as a tribute to love and all eternal lovers. Nellooli is of the opinion that love has different phases – from intense yearning of unfulfilled love and loss to nostalgia Talking about the themes he has covered in this album, he elaborates, “For this album I chose songs that present different aspects of love. While one song is about a lover waiting for his beloved to arrive late into the night, another is about eternal love and the desire to come back as the spring.” In his album, he has a mix of pop or light music that is emotional and easy to listen to.
Having lived in the city since the past few years, he is full of praise for the music scene in Bengaluru. He says, “If I were to describe the city in a word, it would be vibrant. The generation now has enormous talent, interest and passion. Various genres of music like classical, folk and independent music are on a rise.” For the time being, Nellooli sure has a lot on his plate. Talking about his current projects He adds, “I have recently published a thriller novel titled King Pawn. I am also working on a new novel apart from promoting a new singer..” An avid reader, Nellooli is often found either travelling or spending time with family.
