Mudiraj Community Raises Objections Against Hari Hara Veera Mallu
They urged other Bahujan groups to rally in opposition, warning they may attempt to block the film’s release if their concerns remain unaddressed.
Hari Hara Veera Mallu, the upcoming historical action drama starring Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and actor Pawan Kalyan, has stirred controversy ahead of its scheduled release on July 24. Directed by Krish and Jyothi Krishna, and co-starring Nidhhi Agerwal, the film is under fire from members of the Mudiraj community, who allege it distorts the legacy of Telangana folk hero Panduga Sayanna.
Community representatives claim that the film’s central character closely resembles Sayanna but is depicted through a fictional and misleading narrative. Revered as the “Robin Hood of Telangana” for his acts of redistributing wealth from feudal lords to the poor, Sayanna holds a special place in the history and pride of backward communities. Protesters argue that the filmmakers have misrepresented this legacy, undermining the identity and sentiments of Bahujans.
At a press conference held at the Hyderabad Press Club, Mudiraj community leaders accused the producers, Mega Surya Productions, of inserting unrelated and commercially motivated elements that distort historical facts. They urged other Bahujan groups to rally in opposition, warning they may attempt to block the film’s release if their concerns remain unaddressed.
Meanwhile, for Pawan Kalyan, Hari Hara Veera Mallu is seen as a high-profile comeback to the big screen after a hiatus, aiming to reaffirm his box-office dominance and reconnect with audiences in Tollywood.
