A still from the film.

Director: Gautham Iyer

Cast: Nithyasri, Prakash Belawadi, Sudharani, Tharun Sudhir

Unlike the celebrated onscreen action cops usually played by the heroes, Vrithra stands out for showcasing a lady police officer in realistic circumstances while unraveling the mystery. Technically, it may not fall into the category of a thriller, but it certainly keeps the serious audience hooked on to it until the case gets solved. Interestingly, everything gets wrapped up in a jiffy even before it starts to drag the experience with unnecessary plots.

Director Gautham Iyer has webbed a crime solving tale around the protagonist, Indra portrayed by Nithyasri, who has her heart set on solving an interesting case. The edge of the seat experience seekers could face some disappointment as this needs a patient watch just like the popular ones found on the online streaming services.

When the officer finally gets a simple case to find out the remains of a suicide victim, things starts to get murkier. Could it be a case of kidnap or a murder? Well, Indra has her hands full now.

For those who are still wondering what Vrithra means, it is a demon serpent and the film is titled so because it is an attempt to find the hidden demon or in other words finding out the real culprit.

That apart, it is the casting which impresses, right from Nithyasri to the senior ones including Sudharani, who seems to be on a roll ever since she made a comeback in support roles.

With a desired case at hand, the protagonist moves quickly in joining the missing links, which sounds well with a decent background score.

Gautham has given more importance to the minute detailing of characters for an engaging two hour experience than retailing it with unnecessary action and fight sequences. If you are one of those serious minds, who look for quality in what's inside than the glittery package on the outside, then go watch this interesting demon being unraveled.
