Murali Gopy definitely has a lot more going for him in the Malayalam film industry apart from the fact that he is the son of veteran actor Bharath Gopy. This multifaceted personality has made a space of his own in the industry with his acting as well as writing skills. Not to forget, he is a talented singer as well. Movies like Left Right Left and Ee Adutha Kaalathu, penned by Murali are testimonies to his writing skills. They show the unedited side of human relationships. The actor owes it all to his single-tasking attitude. "I don't act when I am writing because for me, writing is something which requires complete attention when I am working on a script," says Murali.

He adds that he had to take a small break from acting in other movies as he was busy writing scripts for Tiyaan and Kamaara Sambhavam. Moreover he has also acted in both movies. Though he was a bit hesitant to reveal more about the subject, commenting on his next release Tiyaan, Murali says, “It is a pan-Indian movie in terms of actors, locations content and the treatment. Hence the subject will also have a broader reach.” Murali has also completed shooting for Arun Kumar Aravind's  Kaatu- the screenplay for which has been written by veteran Malayalam director Padmarajan's son, Anandapadmanabhan. Murali says that the movie, where he essays the role of Chellapan is a retro flick with a rustic milieu and has been inspired by the characters from Padmarajan's two short stories.

However, he asserts that the movie has an original screenplay in its own way and that it is not an adaptation of the short stories, Asif Ali also has a pivotal role in Kaatu. The actor who is gearing up for Aami, Kamaara Sambhavam and projects with Arun Kumar Aravind, Sanal Kumar Shashidharan and  Jiyen  Krishnakumar,  will start working on his script for Prithviraj directorial Lucifer which will go on floors by May 2018. When asked about his future plans Murali says that direction has always been in his priority list and that he is definitely planning to venture into direction. “I will also be writing the script for the movie I will direct. Hence I need time to work on it,” he adds.
