She had hardly 50 films to her credit, but the face of Miss Kumari, the naughty Neeli singing Ellarum Chollanu with Sathyan in Neelakkuyil, which in 1954 won the President’s Silver Medal for best Malayalam feature film, stays afresh in the hearts of every film buff.

This year’s Miss Kumari Puraskaram, an award instituted in the name of the actress remembered for her illustrious two-decade-old career, will be received by Parvathy Thiruvothu on September 8.

Instituted by P. Bhaskaran Foundation, the award comprising Rs 33,333 and a citation will be presented to the actor at Kodungallur Town Hall in the presence of dignitaries like Artist Namboothiri, filmmakers Kamal, Anjali Menon and John Paul, among others.
