On happy mode

Ever since Bilahari announced his movie Allu Ramendran, everyone was left intrigued by the name and the plot of the movie. The movie’s first song was released two weeks ago and it became an instant hit. The melodious song was well complemented by the chemistry of Krishna Sankar and Aparna Balamurali. With the movie set to release on February 1, Krishna Sankar is very much excited about the movie and his character.

Krishna plays the character Jithu, who falls for Swathy, the role played by Aparna. “Jithu is a jobless guy, who loves playing football and dreams of going to Dubai some day. Meanwhile, he gets a lottery in the form of Swathy. He meets her, proposes her and finally they fall in love. She’s the sister of Ramendran, the character played by Kunchacko Boban. It’s through her Jithu gets connected to Ramendran. How Ramendran gets the name Allu Ramendran forms the crux of the movie,” says Krishna.

He asserts that working with director Bilahari and his team evoked memories of his Neram gang. “I have known Bilahari for almost two years. He actually came to narrate another subject and while working on that, he said Sajin Cherukayil has Allu’s plot. Then, we proceeded with that. Later came Ashiq Usman and Chackochan to this project. Sajin, Vineeth Vasudevan and Girish, the writers of the movie, and Bilahari have been friends for years and have been working together. So, there was a positive vibe always. It was very comfortable working with them. Since I came from a passionate movie team, I really enjoyed working with them. Bilahari is a technically brilliant director.”

The song Aarum Kaanathe... was an instant hit and has already crossed 10 lakh views on YouTube. Perhaps, the most discussed scene of the song was the one in which Jithu proposes Swathy in a bus. Their ease in acting has made the song even sweeter. “Initially, there was a confusion regarding the inclusion of  the proposal scene in the song. Finally, we decided to place it in the song, but it wasn’t planned in the bus. It was just an hour before the shooting that the bus sequence got finalised. I believe that gave an extra punch to the scene.”

After Allu Ramendran, Krishna’s next release will be Mariyam Vannu Vilakkoothi, directed by Jenith Kachappilly. It also marks his reunion with his friends Siju Wilson, Shabareesh Varma and Althaf Salim. “The story happens in a day and it is a throughout fun movie. I play the character Rony, the most mischievous of the lot,” he says. “I really enjoyed doing Rony and Jithu. I hope the audience will accept both the characters wholeheartedly,” he wraps up.
