Meenakshi's short film captures childhood from a different angle and has an important message on parental care.

A known name in the television fraternity, anchor and actress Meenakshi Raghunath is now wearing another hat. She has now wielded the megaphone for a short movie titled Be With Her which was released on YouTube recently. Meenakshi has been active on the small screen for the last five years and this project is inspired by her real life experiences. “Though I had been a part of similar projects, I was not addicted to short films. So when I decided to do a small movie, I wanted to make it unique. That’s when I thought to use my personal experiences as the thread of the film,” says the director.

The frames were fixed on the importance of parental care. “As my parents were working, I spent most of my times with friends. When I started observing others in my flat and surroundings, I felt that the situation of most kids are almost same. It was this revelation that lead me to make my film on this topic,” she says.

Meenakshi,who has pursued Visual communication course from a college in Changanassery and has been assisting in making commercials says “My experience in ad films has helped me a lot to convey the subject in a short duration. The length of the film is around four minutes,”. The actor has essayed a key role in the sitcom Chumma and has acted in a few other short films as well. Recently she faced the camera in the award winning director R. Sharath’s Swayam. “I feel, I can do more films, if I get interesting roles. As far as direction is concerned, I will definitely come up with my next soon,” she sums up.
