Actor Siddharth says he got threatening calls from filmmaker Susi Ganesan for supporting writer and filmmaker Leena Manimekalai, who exposed Susi’s sexual harassment through #MeToo. Siddarth has been known to take his stand on social issues and he was one of the few male film celebs who supported the #MeToo campaign.

The Kaaviya Thalaivan actor took to twitter to post, “#SusiGanesan spoke to my aged father on the phone and threatened us with dire consequences if I continue to stand by Leena. So I just want everyone to know that now more than ever... I Stand With #LeenaManimekalai. Stay strong and fight the good fight sister! #MeToo. Your voice will be heard. Your courage will inspire. #ListenToTheAccuser #TimesUp.”

Leena had earlier alleged that Susi Ganeshan had misbehaved with her in 2005 when he had offered to drop her home in his car after an interview at a TV studio in the city. She had said that the director forced her to accompany him to his apartment and only after she threatened that she would harm herself with the pocketknife, which she carries in her handbag, did he let her go.

Susi Ganeshan, in his defence, said that he has always respected women in the industry and has never misbehaved with anyone. The Thiruttu Payale director has also reacted to Leena’s allegations, calling them dishonest and is reportedly contemplating legal action against her.
