Jayasurya is one actor who is loved by audience of all age groups. His films are normally those type the plot of which can be guessed from the trailer or the first-look poster, that is family dramas or romantic comedies. Captain and Njan Marykutty were the only two movies that went off the course recently. But now, it looks like the actor is shifting the gear upwards to another level with his upcoming movie Thrissur Pooram. The title is so generic that almost all his fans and critics would have thought this is going to be another feel-good entertainer for the masses with Thrissur slang, which he mastered in Punyalan Agarbathis  and Punyalan Private Limited. But how wrong they were! From the recently released trailer, Thrissur Pooram proves to be an action thriller with some over-the-top stunt sequences that we have not seen from the actor. Iyyobinte Pusthakam directed by Amal Neerad and Mumbai Police directed by Rosshan Andrrews had some thrilling scenes for the actor, but they were not about him or mostly he was somewhat a sidekick in both. But here in Thrissur Pooram, his character Pullu Giri is tipped to be his best action-thriller role till date. In the trailer, the actor appears to be a gangster who spreads fear across his rival groups. The directorial debut of Rajesh Mohanan, Thrissur Pooram is definitely one of the most anticipated movies in the second half of the calendar year and one to watch out for. The movie has a very interesting cast including Swathy Reddy. It also has its producer Vijay Babu playing a police officer and Sudev Nair as a character with grey shades. In the trailer, we also get to see Jallikattu-actor Sabumon Abdusamad in supposedly a negative role. Ratheesh Vega penned the script as R.D. Rajashekar and Deepu Joseph handled cinematography and editing, respectively. The movie is ready to hit the screens on December 20.

Jayasurya, who was last seen in Pretham 2, is working on many other projects including Prajesh Sen’s Vellam.
