In association with the Kerala State Scheduled Caste Development Department, Canvac Society for Human Welfare Kerala and Vimukthi are conducting an anti-drug awareness rally, named Velivanu Velicham. V.K. Prashanth MLA inaugurated the event. A multimedia travelling street play, titled Karuthal directed by Pramod Payyanur, was flagged off by S. Anandkrishnan IPS. Velivanu Velicham awareness rally will tour 70 scheduled caste colonies from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasargod.

There will be performances by ventriloquist Vinod Naranatu and anti-drug awareness classes provided by experts along with the multimedia travelling street play. Scheduled Caste Development Department Director P.A. Sreevidya IAS, Additional Excise Commissioner D. Rajeev IOFS, cine artist Prem Kumar and Canvac Society for Human Welfare member George Thomas were present at the inaugural function.

The rally that has started in Thiruvananthapuram will conclude in Kasargod district after covering five scheduled cast colonies in each district.
