Kochi: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the abduction and sexual assault of a female actor, on Tuesday questioned Sunil Kumar aka Pulsar Suni, main accused in the case, in prison based on fresh leads dug out during the six-hour long interrogation of Appunni, actor Dileep’s manager, the other day. The cops obtained permission from the Angamaly Judicial First Class Magistrate Court to interrogate Suni in the presence of the Jail Superintendent in Kakkanad District Prison. According to sources, the exercise was aimed to crosscheck and bring clarity on the statements given by Appunni.

Earlier on Monday, Appunni reportedly admitted to cops of talking to Pulsar Suni over phone on behalf of Dileep. As per the statement, Appunni was with Dileep, when Suni called him up on his personal number from the Kakkanad jail and threatened to mention the actor’s name during interrogation. He, however, denied having hatched a conspiracy with Dileep and Suni to assault the female actor. He also told cops that he had known Suni from 2012 onwards when the latter was working as the driver of actor Mukesh but had no information on whether Dileep had any links with Suni.

Meanwhile, the cops are expected to subject Appunni to another round of interrogation at a later stage to link the various sequence of activities involving Suni and Dileep. The SIT also took statements of actor Siddique especially with regard to a rehearsal camp in Kochi back in 2013 when Dileep and the actress had a verbal duel. Earlier in the day, the court extended the remand period of Suni and other accused in the case till August 16. Suni also moved a plea seeking to record his statement before the magistrate.
