Chennai: Filmmaker, screenwriter and composer Singeetam Srinivasa Rao died on Saturday at 94 while undergoing treatment at Kauvery Hospital.
Over a career of more than six decades, he worked in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi cinema. His works include the silent black comedy Pushpaka Vimana (1987), the time-travel film Aditya 369 (1991), the dance drama Mayuri (1985), and Kamal Haasan's Apoorva Sagodharargal (1989) and Michael Madana Kama Rajan (1990).
He began as an associate to K. V. Reddy on films such as Mayabazar, then directed over 60 features and won National Film Awards, Nandi Awards and Filmfare Awards.
Film industry members, political leaders and fans paid tributes.
