After allowing his daughter Aditi Shankar to turn an actress, acclaimed filmmaker S Shankar is now set to see his son Arjith Shankar enter the world of acting. According to reports from Kollywood circles, Arjith will make his acting debut with a commercial entertainer directed by Ashok, a former associate of blockbuster filmmaker Atlee.

Industry buzz suggests that Atlee will bankroll the project, while actress Krithi Shetty has reportedly been roped in as the female lead. Although an official announcement is yet to be made, the project has already generated considerable attention in Tamil cinema circles. Reports indicate that the film's pooja ceremony was recently held in Chennai.

Interestingly, the development has come as a surprise to many in the industry. Arjith was widely believed to be interested in filmmaking rather than acting. Having reportedly studied filmmaking in the United States, he was expected to follow in his father’s footsteps as a director.
