Actor Vijay's Jana Nayagan was released in theatres amid huge expectations, as it is considered the actor's farewell film before he entered politics and went on to become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. The film is now racing towards the Rs 300 crore mark at the box office and continues to perform well in theatres.
If reports are to be believed, Jana Nayagan is set to surpass the lifetime box office collections of Ajith's Good Bad Ugly.
The film is directed by H. Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions. It features Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, and others in key roles.
Jana Nayagan was originally scheduled for a Pongal release on January 9 but was postponed after the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) held back its certification, citing concerns that certain scenes could potentially hurt religious sentiments.
The film received mixed reviews. "The Bobby Deol track, gun-smuggling episodes, and political confrontations feel outdated and disconnected from the central narrative. The sea action sequence, supported by poor visual effects, resembles a television serial rather than a big-budget feature," our review stated.
