No need for action against Kamal: police

Chennai: City police on Monday said that no action would be taken against actor Kamal Hassan over his tweets about Nilavembu Kudineer ending speculation about criminal action against the actor. 

Madras HC had recently asked the city police to register an FIR against the actor in case a cognizable offence is made out. 

The inspector of the cyber crime wing, Central Crime Branch wrote to the petitioner, G. Devarajan,  who filed a complaint against the actor, explaining him that there is no basis for any action against the actor's tweets. 

On October 19, a man claiming to be a social activist approached the city police commissioner's office on Thursday seeking action against the actor for spreading panic among public with his tweets about Nilavembu Kudineer. 

Petitioner G. Devarajan of Sembium in his complaint said that he is filing the complaint on the basis of being a patient who recovered from illness by Siddha medicine including Nilavembu kudineer.
