Samantha turned 35 on Wednesday! While the actress looked forward to a great birthday gift, she got a shocker from her fans and audience! Her film, Kanmani Rambo Katija, which released on Wednesday, to coincide with her birthday, received a lukewarm response. Adding insult to injury, the Vignesh Shivan directorial even failed to draw basic openings at the box office despite having three biggest South superstars — Samantha, Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanatara.

While Sam had birthday wishes poured in from the netizens, her film was not even talked about as fans and audience maintained stoic silence.

In the Telugu speaking states, the film has been marred for its poor content, much like in Tamil Nadu. The film was even moved away in some theaters as there was no minimum occupancy.  Does this film’s result (a colossal flop) prove that content is important and not star cast? Does it reinstate that no name can save the film, except content? Film critic Jalapathy Gudelli accentuates that KRK lacked buzz because there was hardly any promotion.
