It’s a double dhamaka for producer J.Satish Kumar.  The audio launch of his latest venture Andaava Kaanom, was a special affair for two reasons — the film marks Sriya Reddy’s comeback to K’town after nine years and Satish Kumar’s 10th year as producer. Some of his films like Thanga Meenkal and Kuttram Kadithal have won national acclaim.

Andaava Kaanom is helmed by debutant director Velmadhi. Interestingly, Vijay Sethupathi had given his voice to an andaa (a huge drum), which is the central character in the movie.

Speaking at the event, Sriya said, “I am donning the grease paint after a long time. When director Velmadhi narrated the script to me, I asked him if the character is similar to the one I played in Thimuru. He asked me to come to the sets with an open mind. He taught me the Madurai slang very patiently. Without JSK Sathish, this movie would not have happened.”

JSK, on his part said, “Velmadhi had trained around 300 people from a village to act in Andaava Kaanom. After hearing the script, the first person who came to my mind was Sriya Reddy. If my judgment is right, I think this movie will strike gold in the coming year’s National award ceremony.” He added that he would be releasing Raam’s Tharamani and Ajith’s Vivegam.
