Pelli Choopulu comes to Kollywood
Gautham Menon has bagged the rights of Telugu super-hit film Pelli Choopulu.
Tharun Basckar Dhaassyam made his debut as a director with Telugu film Pelli Choopulu, which is easily one of the most celebrated films of 2016 across the globe. Starring Vijay Deverakonda and Ritu Varma, this romantic comedy is about two youngsters becoming business partners instead of marrying each other.
Elaborating on the news of the Tamil remake, Tharun told DC, “Gautham Menon sir called me and heaped praises on the film. It came as a surprise when he revealed that he had bought the Tamil remake rights for his banner — Ondraga Entertainment. He is re-writing the script and I might be meeting him soon to discuss things related to Pelli Choopulu.”
Reiterating the same, producer Raj Kandukuri, added, “Gautham Menon asked if Tharun would also helm the remake. But Tharun isn’t keen on doing it as it would be a repetition. Moreover, he is busy with other commitments as well.”
A source close to Gautham Menon’s camp also confirmed the news and that talks are on to finalise the cast and crew of the Tamil remake.
