Over the past few years, Harish Uthaman has carved a niche for himself in K’town as a villain and a supporting artiste. His next release is Dora, with Nayanthara in the lead role. Talking about the film, the actor says, “I play an investigative police officer in the film. What I like the best about my character is that there are so many layers to it, and it is pivotal to the screenplay as well. There is a constant tug of war between Nayanthara and I in the film, and those scenes are pretty interesting.”

The actor, who has shared screen space with Nayan in Thani Oruvan earlier, says that the sets of Dora felt like an extension of Thani... “She is a great actor to work with — completely dedicated; never rushes to the caravan once her shot is done. She waits out on the sets for hours if need be, and is always punctual. In that way, she is someone I look up to,” shares Harish.

The actor says that it’s important for negative characters to not be uni-dimensional, and that he makes sure he interacts with the directors to get the details right — “I make sure I talk to the directors enough so that I get the tiniest of details right. This is something that Suseenthiran taught me.”

Talking about Suseenthiran, Harish says that he feels blessed that he is part of the majority of the director’s films. “I am glad to have a brother like him. He is my mentor, and what I am today, I owe it to Suseenthiran. I would blindly walk into his film, because I trust him that much. I’m currently working on his film Aramm Seidhu Pazhagu, which will be a milestone in my career as an actor. Other than that, I’m currently shooting for Atharvaa-starrer Othaikku Otha.”
