Every time I act in a Tamil film, it feels like a comeback!” says actress Vishakha Singh. Her latest outing, Vaaliba Raja, released on yesterday and it has been garnering good response. “My first Kolly film was in 2008, then I did Kanna Laddoo Thinna Aasaiya in 2013. Oru Oorla Rendu Raja happened two years ago and now this,” she says. On why she keeps taking breaks — “Actually, acting in movies is my break! Most people don’t know that I work in my father’s company in Europe and also produce independent films in Mumbai. Only when I need time off from this hectic lifestyle, do I take up movies,” she says. While most women look at making a career out of acting, Vishakha stands out as an exception — “I get pampered really well on movie sets, so it’s like a vacation!”

In the city to watch a show of Vaaliba Raja, she says she’s really happy the way the movie has taken shape — “I watched a show in Palazzo (Forum Vijaya Mall) and it was house-full to my delight! The audience was clapping and cheering to many of Santhanam’s jokes,” she says adding, “I too felt satisfied about my performance in the film — I just played a damsel in distress in Kanna Laddoo, but this film gave me a chance to emote.”

But will she disappear again, leaving us waiting for a year more before her next film? “I’m in the city today, but off to Mumbai for three more Hindi film shoots. I have another film, Bayam Oru Payanam (Tamil) in the pipeline but let’s see, I’ll make my umpteenth comeback if any interesting scripts come along!” signs off Vishakha.
