Nandha

Nandha returns after a gap with a strong subject, Kallattam where he will portray the role of an undercover cop. “It is not the routine kind of police story which you’ve seen earlier in Tamil films. Here, the ‘police tone’ was not required and I will not even sport a uniform in the film! There are no clichéd station scenes or ‘sirippu police’ for that matter — my director Ramesh G deliberately wanted it that way. I use my brains more rather than brawn,” Nandha starts his conversation.

He adds, “The story is based on real-life incidents that are happening around us even now. It revolves around a child and the theme of the film is a fresh one.” When asked if the movie deals about the issue of child abuse, the actor is not very forthcoming — “Oh no! It’s something that you can relate to when you watch it in theaters. You will be drawn to the script, minutes after the film starts rolling.”

The best part is that the movie has been completed within 17 days,  and has a running time of 97 minutes. “We were able to achieve this through meticulous planning,” says Ramesh G, who has also doubled up as a cinematographer in Kallattam.  “There’s only one song; rather half a song in the movie!” he adds. The movie which has got a  U Certification from the Censor Board, will hit the screens on September 30.
