Veerapuram based on illegal sand-mining

Actor Mahesh’s upcoming film Veerapuram is based on a real-life incident that took place against the backdrop of an illegal sand-mining racket.

Talking about the project, director Senthilkumar says, “The film has a poignant subject. It’s about a young couple who are witness to illegal sand-mining activities. There’s a social message interlaced in the story, but it’s narrated in a lively manner rather than a preachy tone.”

He also asserts that Veerapuram will give the immensely-talented Mahesh the break he needs. The film also features Meghna of Urudhikol fame as the lead heroine. It has been shot in Chengalpet, Chennai and Madurai.
